History of the Company:

In 1966, VARIFOLD ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS was established as a single proprietorship by Architect Cesar S. Vergel de Dios. At the suggestion of a friend, he designed a folding partition that could be pushed aside or closed with very little effort. It caught on very fast in a market looking for quality local products to substitute for the expensive imported ones. Clients ranged from home owners to offices and restaurants. In 1969, when the converted garage of the family home in Pasay could no longer accomodate the growing demand for Varifold folding partitions, Arch. Vergel de Dios put up a building in Makati to house the shop and offices. As the company continued to make a name for itself because of the high quality of its product, other lines were added to the folding door. The construction of several hotels in the mid-70's paved the way for the introduction of the operable walls. Other products like vertical blinds, venetian blinds, modular or low partitions, demountable partitions, wardrobe doors and kitchen cabinets were eventually offered. It was during this period also, that the company was incorporated.

A decade later, in 1979, the company moved to a bigger and better plant site located on a 10,000 sq m lot in Santolan, Pasig. A 1,500 sq m main building was constructed to house the assembly area, extrusion area, stockrooms and offices. A painting booth of 170 sq m and a carpentry section of 280 sq m were also constructed. The compound has a canteen adjacent in a small building near the entrance. Sales and administrative offices have remained in the Makati building.

In 1995, Varifold was appointed the Philippine licensee of HUFCOR, Inc of Wisconsin, USA. Since then, Varifold has provided and installed HUFCOR Operable partitions for a number of hotels among them: Mactan Waterfront Hotel; Mactan Shangri-La Hotel; The Heritage Hotel; Holiday Inn, Clark; Days Inn, Batangas City; Tagaytay Highlands; EDSA Plaza Hotel; Marriott Hotel, Cebu.
